Salem Branch of the Lead Belt Line

Bridge collapse on the Salem Branch of the Frisco in 1924. No one was injured. This photo is often mislabeled as the Meramec River bridge at Goltra, but this is at Bird’s Nest near Steelville. The stone pilings for the bridge remain next to the newer railroad bridge, built in the 1960s for the Lead Belt Line.
